Now that the weather is warming up, just wondering who has camping plans this month?   Grin

I plan to be at Garner State Park this weekend for some tent camping!  The weather is looking nice.  Highs in the 70's, Lows in the 40's and Sunny/Clear...nights will be perfect for star gazing!

I'm so jealous!  Garner is going to be beautiful this weekend.  We're dry docked for awhile, gotta catch up on all the chores around the house becasue we were gone all winter.  have a great time and make sure and give us a full report!

it's going to be crowded--spring break!  the water will be cold, but I bet a lot of people will still be in the Frio River.  I'll post some pics when I get back!   Cheesy

Hello all, I am a new member from Cypress, Tx.  We have a 26 ft self-contained RV but just bought a tent.  We enjoy the RV but it lacks the communion with nature that a tent affords.  We will be going to Huntsville State Park at the end of March.  We raised our kids camping at HSP and want to go back to a simpler camping experience.

Welcome Spider Stomper!
There's something about tent camping that I really enjoy.  It's the bring back to nature experience & being able to hear the critters around your tent at night that I like.  Also the cost is right compared to RV camping!

I recently went to Garner State Park this weekend and had a great time tent camping.  I did notice that most RV campers were mainly inside and tent campers were mainly outside.  I guess if I was in an RV with AC/Heater, TV, I would do the same; the tent kind of forces you outside which can be a good thing!  Smiley

Jesse,
that is exactly why we bought a tent and parked the RV.  After 3 years of RV'ing, I realized that the RV was a motel room on wheels; a tent is just a thin wall between you and nature.  We greatly anticipate re-learning what camping is all about.

Dang, it is sure quiet in this campground!  I made our first reservations of the year at Martin Dies, Jr. SP.  Huntsville was our first choice but with all the renovation going on up there, we could not get a reservation.  Anybody have recommendations on what to do at Martin Dies park?  Besides eat, sleep and fish, I mean.

haven't been there, but I do have another reservation for tent camping at Garner State Park for Saturday...the weather is looking nice.  Sunny high 80, low 50.   Grin  Also made some reservations at Enchanted Rock State Park for end of May.

Went tent camping at Garner State Park on Saturday March 27th 2010, the park was pretty empty which was strange because the weather was perfect!  There was a nice gentle breeze and blue skies through out the trip.  I love camping in early spring when it's not too hot.
