I went by Government Canyon State Natural Area on Saturday which turned out to be a bad choice of due to all the recent rain--all trails were real muddy....but on the good side...I spoke with a park ranger at the entrance and she said that the park rangers are working on making 25 campsites. She didn't have an exact date of when they will be avail. but she said they will probably be ready in less than a year!

Don't get to excited, they said the same thing last year.  I also spoke with someone on the phone that said they were planning on putting in some R.V. spots.  About a year later we stop in  and talk to the ranger.  he says no way are they ever going to put in camping sites.

Time will tell I guess.  The park is not 15 minutes from my house, I would kill for some water & electric sites over there.

I live in helotes, it's about 10 mins away for me...kind of like camping in the backyard!  Smiley

so if they have been working on it for over a year they should be close to finisihing it right?!  I don't think that creating a primitive campsite takes a lot of time and I wonder why they don't ask for volunteers to help out?  I would do it..especially now..the weather is perfect for that right now...not too hot.

but only 25 sites...i bet you have to make reservations in a year in advance!
